Living from day to day can become tedious. We get up and go to work, come home and fix dinner, and then we still have to find time to mow the yard.
When is there ever time for us?
God wishes us to enjoy our journey through life. He has given us the breath we breathe as a gift, and he does not want us to waste it in drudgery and misery. He wants us to take a VACATION.
Let’s look at our VACATION God:
V – He VISITS us, keeping us company on our journey.
Luke 7:16 takes us to a city called Nain. Jesus healed a widow’s son. The people glorified God, praising him, saying, “God VISITS with his people.”
A – He makes the necessary APPOINTMENTS for our trip.
Job 2:8-11 reveals Job after the devil stripped his possessions and health from him, as he sat in the ashes to scrape his boils with a potsherd. Off in the distance he saw his three friends arriving with APPOINTMENTS to mourn with him and to comfort him.
C – He CHOOSES the prime vacation experience for us.
Psalm 47:4 reassures us that he CHOOSES only the best for us, comparing his choices to the excellence of Jacob, whom he loved.
A – He provides us an ALLOWANCE for our travels.
2 Kings 25:30 tells of the final days of Jehoiachin, king of Judah. He is lifted up from prison, and he is given sustenance as his ALLOWANCE for the rest of his years.
T – He provides lodging to the TRAVELER.
Job 31:32 tells of the stranger who journeys to an unfamiliar city. He is not allowed to lodge in the street. Instead, God’s doors are open to the TRAVELER, and he is welcome to rest his feet.
I – He is our tour guide, giving us INSTRUCTIONS as we journey on our trip.
Isaiah 40:14 tells us God will provide us an itinerary, one filled with all the necessary INSTRUCTIONS to show us the best route for our travels.
O – He OBTAINS five-star traveling accommodations for our enjoyment.
2 Thessalonians 2:14 says that we are called to the Gospel, for by the Lord’s teachings we OBTAIN the glories of our Resurrected Christ.
N – He parties with a loud NOISE, encouraging us to clap and play joyful music.
Psalm 98:4-8 insists that we are to make a loud NOISE unto him with musical instruments and merriment. It is to be a party to end all parties.
Our God expects us to love him, but he makes sure we enjoy ourselves as we do.
