We all fumble now and again.
We say the wrong word and hurt feelings or an argument ensues.
We misplace a zero, and the next three checks bounce.
We don’t hear our alarm, and we get another demerit at work.
God says to quit focusing on our shortcomings. He’s got something better on the way.
Psalm 34:18 says our broken heart calls out to him.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 147:3 promises our hurts and failures are remedied by him.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Acts 3:19 assures we will be refreshed in his presence.
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”
Ezekiel 18:21-22 tells us all our old slip-ups are wiped from the slate.
“But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live.”
Matthew 9:13 is our guarantee that Christ chooses us.
“Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Now’s our time. Jesus came to set us back on our feet again. Arguments resolved. Financial mistakes cancelled. Job issues coming up roses.
We become changed when we choose to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. We want to walk taller than we did before.
Jesus ensures we will be better than we thought possible.
