Getting the Extreme Clean

English Audio Version

There’s a good reason to wash your car.

It will last longer and perform better.

You read that right. Get the dirt out of the springs, clean the grime from the hinges and under the wiper blades, and your car will weather the years and be in better shape than the average car.

Then there’s your headlights and taillights. Safety first! If you can’t see well at night, that’s dangerous. If your taillights are obscured with road grime, you risk not being seen in the dark.

What about the inside? Does that matter?

Absolutely!

Hit the brakes and watch empty containers fly around your interior. You’ve just become a distracted driver.

What about the empty bottle under your brake pedal? Or the dirt gumming up your power seat or your steering wheel?

Thank God we have automatic car washing facilities. We drive in, pay for a wash, and we drive away shiny and clean.

We must be diligent to avoid the light wash. If we only clean the outside, and we ignore the rest, we will look good going down the road, but we’ve left much of our cleaning undone.

Isaiah 5:21 says:

“Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!”

Our life is the same. If we wash our hair, put on clean clothes, and even paint on some makeup, we’ve only just started. We’ve done the light wash.

We want the extreme clean, the one where the trash is removed, the carpet is steamed, and the inside of the windows are wiped clean.

Only then can we operate at our maximum efficiency for the Lord.

God’s standard is our measuring stick. Let’s use it to stand tall in him.

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
