Continent-Wide Forgiveness

English Audio Version

How far can we run?

In the movie Forrest Gump, Tom Hank’s character runs across the United States from coast to coast. It’s a very long way.

Flight times from East Coast airports to Los Angeles can run multiple hours. To drive it? Plan for days . . . and days.

America’s East Coast is about as far from its West Coast as you can get.

Psalm 103:12 tells us:

“As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

As far as the east is from the west . . . as far as the East Coast is from the West Coast . . . hours by our fastest mode of travel . . . and days and days by our next fastest.

To walk it? Months and months.

When God forgives us, he really forgives us. When we come before him, say, “I messed up, God. please forgive me,” bam, it’s gone.

Cast away. Chucked like a stone into a bottomless pit. Flung as far as a mighty God can fling it.

We will never hear about it again from God.

The next step is for us to turn it loose. The devil will try to remind us. We will have to deal with the consequences of what we’ve done, but God will never bring it up again. It’s done. Finished. Over with.

We have become clothed with the righteousness of Christ before the Father.

God is our forgiver. He desires us to be pure in all our actions, and when we mess up, he welcomes us back into his arms.

God’s forgiveness covers everything. All we need to do is ask.

We walk in God’s truth when we walk at God’s side.
