Bearing Christ’s Fruit

English Audio Version

Not all apple trees produce great fruit.

Some fruit simply isn’t worth eating. We’d as soon toss it in the garbage as slice it and have it for lunch.

All we can do is cut down the flavorless tree…

Wait! Not so fast!

That unloved apple tree can produce great fruit. Cut off all the old branches and have a bonfire, then graft on a flavorful variety of fresh buds. Soon we’ll have sweet, flavorful fruit on our table.

2 Corinthians 5:17 describes how this works in our Christian walk.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Finding salvation in Christ means our old fruit-bearing branches are lopped off, and a new life in Jesus is grafted on. We will become the go-to tree, the one that produces the prize fruit. We become new in Christ, our Lord.

When we’ve burned our old branches, our worldly life will be gone forever. We’ll find our spiritual success in Jesus.
