Shazzam, Goes the Word of God!

We’ve all seen the cleaning commercials where the presenter throws white fabrics together with red wine into a glass bowl filled with clear water. It’s ruined forever, he calls out…until he does his “magic” thing.

What is this magic? Oxy cleaner, dumped directly in, and the water becomes clear once more. Saved, by the power of something everyone needs to try.

Shazzam, we think. We want to try that!

The reality is…who wouldn’t? Anything that works so well must be perfect. Of course we’re going to give it a try.

Yet, the Bible gives us this same cleaning commercial over and over, and we ignore its “magic” propensities with disdain. We discount the saving power of God’s Word as if it’s a fairy tale.

Leviticus 17:11 tells us:

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.”

Shazzam! We become white as snow!

1 Peter 2:24 explains the process:

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

Shazzam! Our stains are gone!

Hebrews 9:12 describes:

“He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”

Shazzam! Great oxy cleaner, that’s good!

1 John 2:2 nails God’s message on the head:

“He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Shazzam! Every stain on every person has been removed!

How great is this? Jesus is God’s oxy cleaner to the world. No matter how stained we get, just pour on some Jesus, and we are cleansed by the power of his name!

Who wouldn’t want to try this heavenly cleaner, given to us for free, and explained in detail in the Word of God? Let’s not discount the saving power of God’s Word. It’s not a fairy tale. There’s no magic involved. It’s much better than that.

It’s the saving power of Christ, brought to us by his sacrifice on the cross, and freely given to all who call on him.

Everyone should want to give it a try.

Pour a little Jesus on our stains, and they will wash away, leaving us fresh and clean once again.
