Michelle tells the story on the Sunny Skyes website of an elderly woman who went in for an MRI.
It seemed she had a tough life, and as she filled out her forms before the procedure, she wanted to keep the pen but was told it needed to be returned to the basket. She argued that she used lots of pens doing word search puzzles and needed all she could get.
In brief, Michelle made sure the lady received an anonymous package of word search puzzles and extra pens.
So simple, such an easy and inexpensive thing to do.
Matthew 6:31-34 offers this assurance:
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
It's time for us to be a Michelle. It’s easy to say, “Don’t worry,” but when we have enough, we need to be the one providing for those that do.
Look around you. Who might need food? Who might be thirsty? Who might require clothes? Take the worry off those people. Be the hand of God in providing what they need. It doesn’t need to break the bank. Those puzzles and pens likely cost Michelle only a few dollars.
Take that first step today. Take the worry off someone who can’t help themselves. You will feel the love of Christ in your heart when you do.
