3 Opinions Backed by the Bible

English Audio Version

Facts are handy tools.

We can prove what we say with real-life examples. There’s no doubt when we have the proof in hand.

Our opinions? That’s a different matter. In our modern world, anyone can have any opinion.

Our culture even encourages it. Express yourself, it’s said. Don’t hold back. Say what you mean.

That means a lot of people say a lot of things, not all of them supported by facts.

Here are three opinions backed by the Bible.

Opinion #1: Getting angry turns people into clowns.

You know what I mean. The red face, the wild expression, even wagging our finger in someone’s face. What a clown!

Our support from the Bible comes from Proverbs 14:17a:

“A man of quick temper acts foolishly.”

Opinion #2: An angry person makes a terrible chef.

Cooking is an art, and it requires focus. Anger? There’s no focus at all. An angry person stirs discord and bad taste into every relationship.

Read from Proverbs 15:18a:

“A hot-tempered man stirs up strife.”

Opinion #3: Anger is a tripwire that shatters space and time.

Our spouse leaves. Our job – lost. Even our neighbors refuse to speak with us. The good we’ve done vanishes as if it never was.

See the consequences in Proverbs 29:22:

“A man … given to anger causes much transgression.”

Transgression is rule breaking. Social rules, financial rules, relationship rules. Anger causes us to be careless in our treatment of others.

Let’s not be a clown, refuse to stir the muck from the bottom of the pot, and let kindness and consideration be our legacy.

When we face the facts, we see that showing Christ’s love is the best way to live.
