When’s the last time someone cut you off in traffic? How did you feel? Gracious, or not so loving?
How about the gossip in the office? The one that makes up juicy tidbits to round out their salacious tales? Does your blood boil when you see them in the break room?
Think how God must feel when humanity ignores his precepts and rules in the Word and goes their own way.
“Arrrgh,” God cries. “Will you never get it right?”
Scrrrratch! That’s not what God says. Read in Hosea 14:4.
“I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.”
Apostasy is the abandonment of a religious belief. Umm. That sounds like much of the modern world. Secularism, atheism, and even the denigration of Christian morality.
The church has been cut off in traffic. We are being gossiped about with salacious tales of wrongdoing behind the church doors.
“Arrrgh! Get off our backs! We are following God’s way, and it’s the best way!”
God says, “I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.”
That’s what God expects of us, also. We are to release our love and understanding and let it touch everyone we meet.
God’s answer is always love. Ours must be, too.
