A Christmas Revelation for the Entire Year

English Audio Version

We love to unpack Christmas sometime during fall.

Traditionally, we mark Thanksgiving as the day to break out our decorations. The more excited we are, the earlier we string the lights on our tree.

Some people even forgo Halloween to get in yet a few more weeks of Christmas cheer in their homes.

That old song, “Deck the Halls …” truly rings for them.

We are often equally quick to pack up the holiday come the end of December. We box up Christmas, pack it into the attic, and get back to the business of living for another year.

There’s one thing we can’t afford to pack away. It’s a vital part of the Christmas season, and it needs to be practiced even after the tree disappears from our living room.

Romans 12:10 sums up the Christmas message:

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

Here are some ways we can carry our Christmas love with us after the lights are wound up, the ornaments are packed away, and we step into yet another year.

Matthew 2:10 says to express joy at the good news of Christ.

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”

2 Corinthians 9:15 tells us to put thankfulness high on our list.

“Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!”

Luke 1:37 says to raise our expectations when we ask anything of God.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Mother Teresa said it in the most elegant way:

“It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you … yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand.”

Let’s let Christmas be evident in our actions every day of the year. It can when we show love, care, and concern in each situation that comes our way.

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
