There are plenty of strong people in the world. Movers and shakers. Men who shall not be moved. Women of conviction and power.
Then there’s everyone else.
Jesus came to the world to be our example. He was compassionate to the needy and disenfranchised.
Christ found his motivation in those who had the least and needed him most.
Let’s look at 4 ways we can emulate Our Lord and show kindness to people around us.
Example No. 1:
Mark 6:34 gives us a picture of Jesus’ caring nature.
“When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.”
Jesus didn’t search out the crowd. They were just there, and Jesus stepped outside of his plans and made them his priority.
Example No. 2:
Ephesians 4:32 is a succinct instruction on how we are to behave.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
This is a choice. We make it every day. We don’t have to feel it. We need to do it.
Example No. 3:
Colossians 3:12-13 reminds us that we aren’t in this alone.
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
Jesus took the first step, and we walk where he trod. Our Lord forgave us everything. How can we do any less for the people at our side?
Example No. 4:
Galatians 6:2 is our call to be part of the team.
“Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
We are to be there for our fellow Christians. Financially, emotionally, spiritually, it doesn’t matter. This is a direct instruction from the Bible.
Following these four examples and making them a part of our everyday lives will change us. It will change how people see us. It will change the impact we have on the world for the purpose of Christ.
Let’s be the best we can be. Kindness is part of the process.
