Even the most capable of people cannot be successful without motivation. At times, we find our strength internally, and other times, we need people to shore us up.
Our Christian walk will falter at every stumbling block without encouragement. We must find the strength to be successful from our Lord.
Zephaniah 3:17 tells us the Lord is filled with love for us:
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says we are an important part of the motivational process:
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
Isaiah 40:31 is our promise that in the Lord, we will find success:
“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 43:2 reveals the protecting hand of the Father always over us:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
Joshua 1:9 reveals our courage is a conscious choice:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Proverbs 18:10 gives us a safe house when the pressures of life become too great to withstand:
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”
We can have muscular arms of prayer, a booming voice of praise, and iron feet that stomp wrongdoing and still have a heart of glass that shatters easily. Our strength comes from the tender touch of God. God’s touch comes from prayer, time spent in the Bible, and fellowship with Christians who also trust wholly in Christ.
Our encouraging words to others are the voice of Christ unto those who need him most.
