We can’t live without sunshine.
Really. We’ve heard the fairy tale exclamation, “What big teeth you have!” We need the vitamin D that we get out of sunlight to absorb calcium and promote bone growth. It also improves our immune system and gives us better teeth.
It’s all from vitamin D, from hanging out in the sun, and from getting the supplements our body needs to be at its very best.
How about our spiritual vitamin D? How can we get enough to ensure we can be strong in the Lord?
John 8:12 is our promise that Christ will shine on us in our walk with him.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ ”
John 1:5 says Christ is everywhere, and if we trust in him as our savior, he is where we are.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:5 assures us our salvation grows stronger in the sunshine of his love. We need the light of Christ.
“For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.”
Colossians 1:13 is our transformation from spiritual sickness to spiritual life.
“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”
Ephesians 5:8 is our guarantee that we can spread Christ’s spiritual vitamin D unto everyone we come into contact with.
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
We can’t live without Christ. When we stand in his presence, our spiritual bones become strong, and we become immune to the destructive wiles of the devil. Shout it! We become fit as a fiddle in our Lord!
There’s a reason Christ is called the light of this world. When he shines on us, we mature into strong Christians through his power and love.
