Soft Hands and Kind Words

Holding grudges will hold you back in life.”

You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:18 ESV)

Grudges are like tar balls. Once we pick them up, they stain us for a very long time.

The stain also rubs off on everything we touch, from our clothes, to the people we hug, to the surfaces in our cars and homes.

It makes a mess for others to clean up.

The only way to deal with grudges is to walk away from them. Never pick them up. And if we do? Get rid of them as quickly as possible and scrub away the residue until it’s all shiny and clean.

The residue of a grudge is scoured away by the effects of love. A soft voice, kind words, and treating others well can polish away the grime of our grudge.

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
