“If you cannot stand by your actions without feeling ashamed, then the time to change is now.”
But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. (Isaiah 50:7 ESV)
Mistakes come easily to most of us.
We stumble, and when we climb to our feet, we’re soiled with the evidence of our fall. Our reputations are stained. Our relationships are tattered. Our job is in peril.
All we can do is move forward. God assures us that with His help, we will not be disgraced. He will cover us with new robes, repair our damaged reputations, and mend our relationships.
The crux of our change comes in us. We must modify what we’ve been doing. Behave differently. Speak differently. Model our lives after the example of our Lord.
It takes determination. We must “set our face like a flint,” that we might find the strength to follow in the footsteps of the righteous. The Lord will empower us in our time of need.
