“If you let your personal life, your family, or your spirituality suffer to further wealth or power, you have not been successful.”
For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6 ESV)
Our faith in Christ flows from our belief in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and the salvation message in His death and resurrection.
Christ’s message to us is to enact a spiritual change in how we live our lives. If our focus is on money, houses, and cars, we’ve missed Jesus’ mark.
Certainly, our Lord knows we need these things to survive, but they cannot be our focus. If all we care about is the size of our bank account, we may well lose everything else.
We must ask ourselves what we’ve given up achieving our success. Our personal standards? The people around us? Our spiritual connection with Christ?
We have one goal in life when we confess Christ as our Lord: to set our mind on the Spirit so we can find life and peace.
