5 Profound Truths from Proverbs

English Audio Version

The book of Proverbs is sprinkled with amazing nuggets of treasured information. Each verse seems to sum up the nature of God in a way that makes us want to carry it with us throughout the day.

Proverbs writes the character of God on our hearts and makes him our intimate companion, one that resides closer than a brother.

Proverbs 2:5-7 gives us 5 Profound Truths that forever change the way we think about God.

“Then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.”

Profound Truth No. 1: Wisdom.

This is the most vital of gifts. Wisdom enables us to discern the inner qualities of people. We can sense the inner machinations of relationships before they sour and pull us down with them.

Profound Truth No. 2: Knowledge.

Knowledge is gained through experience or association. God leads us through life, and he teaches us with what we endure.

Profound Truth No. 3: Understanding.

Life can happen, but it’s understanding it that allows us to make sense of it. We are able to apply the lessons of God to future events.

Profound Truth No. 4: Sound Wisdom.

This is different than just wisdom. Sound wisdom is the determination to apply our wisdom (see Profound Truth No. 1) for the common good. Our desire is not to benefit us, but to enhance the lives of all of us.

Profound Truth No. 5: God becomes our Shield.

When we live by the precepts of the Bible, and we model our behavior after the example of Christ, God’s hand of protection is around us, and there is nothing that can break through to harm us.

Look at the amazing revelations these three simple verses in Proverbs provide. The only way to get it all inside is to daily drop Proverbs in a juicer and drink it down for breakfast EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR.

God is profound, and the truths in the Word proclaim his glory with every verse.
