Make a list.
Pull out a sheet of paper and grab a pencil. Number the lines 1-10.
That’s enough to start. You can add to your list later.
Fill in the things that have happened to you today. Add them all, good and bad.
That sweet hug from your kid? Put it at number one.
Did the dishwasher overflow? Write it down.
Don’t leave anything out.
At the end of the day, you have your list of good things the Lord is doing in your life.
What!?! No way! Not with bad things on my list.
Yes way. Read in Romans 8:28:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
This verse is clear. God’s good plan for your life isn’t just the sugar cookies and the juicy steak. All of it – every bit – is part of his plan.
When we love God, follow the precepts outlined in the Word, and trust in the Son to be our guide, every single thing that happens to us is working out for our good.
Every. Single. Thing.
Are you seeing it, yet? Have you taken hold of this idea?
All of it. For. Our. Good.
The broken shoestring. The declined credit card. The red light that kept you from getting to work on time.
Here’s the difference between disaster and deliverance. Did you let the lesson from that experience change your behavior the next time?
Did you replace your shoestrings with a better-quality set? Have you begun monitoring your credit card balance? Do you leave earlier for work to give yourself time to be on time?
Remember, all things work together for good when we are called to do the work of the Lord. We step up to the plate. We change our behavior. We become better in our walk with God.
Jesus wants us to grow in him, and that’s a very good thing.
