Picture palm trees and a tropical sun.
We’ve nothing to do but recline on a chase lounge and drag our fingertips in the sand.
We feel we’ve found heaven on earth, and we never want to leave. We’ve discovered our happy place, one that we deserve, and why shouldn’t we have it all?
We can. Of course, for most of us, it’s not found on a tropical beach with sand and sun. Our happy place is found at the kitchen sink, mowing the lawn, putting gas in the car, or tucking our children in at night.
What?? This is our Happy Place?? You’ve got to be kidding.
Psalm 144:15 tells us that all good things are blessings from the Lord:
“Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!”
Psalm 68:3 says our righteousness in Christ is enough to send us to our happy place:
“But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy!”
Psalm 146:5 reminds us that all happiness flows from God our Father:
“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.”
Proverbs 16:20 assures us that whoever comes to God and believes on him will find joy and happiness in him:
“Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.”
God is where we are, if we choose to see him there. We don’t require a vacation location to find a place of respite in him. We can close our eyes, sense his presence, and we can rest in Christ.
In our connection with God, his peace will wash through us, and we will find joy in him.
