Sword-Wielding Believer

―  Also find us at www.MyChurchNotes.com  ―

We’re told to be peacemakers.

We’re to turn the other cheek; be always kind; to never step on anyone’s toes in anger.

Yet there are times we must do exactly that. God expects us to rise up, get angry, and let our indignation fly. We’re to be the black cloud of fury, the thundering tornado, and the destruction that follows the storm.

Whaaat?!? When did Christ say to us to become an angry, sword-wielding crusader? Point out that in the Word of God.

Okay. Here goes:

“The person who practices sin belongs to the evil one, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy what the Devil has been doing.”

This verse comes from 1 John 3:8 in the International Standard Version. New Testament. John, the beloved Evangelist. Trusted Apostle. Follower and imitator of Christ.

“The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy what the Devil has been doing.”

If Christ was revealed to wield a sword against the devil, we are to do the same. Look back to 1 John 2:6:

“The one who says that he abides in [Christ] must live the same way [Jesus] himself lived.”

Rise up, rise up.

We must rise up and be filled with anger at the devil. It’s our job to become the black cloud of fury and the thundering tornado where the devil’s works are prevalent. Our sword of truth and faith in Christ must be held high. It should glint in the light of righteousness and flash with a sure stroke to divide truth from lies.

It’s what Christ would do. It’s why he was revealed on this earth.

John, Apostle, believer and imitator of Christ, a man who walked side-by-side with the Master, tells us so.

We should be peacemakers among men but Christ’s angry fist when we come against the evil one.

Excerpt of the Day

A promise to the devil can be laughed off when we have Jesus standing at our side. A promise from the devil is worthless, and should be laughed off even faster.
