In early March of 2018, a strong winter storm hit the northeast coast of the United States.
Boston’s streets flooded with the highest tide in years.
A tree fell on a Jeep, crushing it like a karate chop. People dodged falling branches, and March’s bomb cyclone (as it was called), knocked out power for hundreds of thousands during one of the worst snowstorms in a decade.
People were devastated, and not everyone survived.
How do we make it through when a bomb cyclone hits us spiritually? Where’s our First Response team? Who clears our streets and hauls away the fallen branches?
Who hooks up our interrupted power lines once more?
Psalm 37:5 gives us our 9-1-1 number.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
In the March storm, people trusted in the authorities to come to their aid, and that’s what happened. Ambulances arrived, crews worked overtime to restore power, and people’s lives began to come together.
Spiritually, we let our heavenly Father have control of our situation. We commit our lives to him, and he patches us back together again.
Our 9-1-1 connection is made through time spent on our knees and the study of the Word of God.
Our lives get back on track when we let Jesus show us how to live.
