Our CLOUDLESS God

Summer is our time to be outside. Rain? Go away, the chant goes. Come again some other day. We need the brilliance of the sun for our trips, games, and activities.

That is our God. When he plans an activity for us, he makes sure the weather is perfect. Even when we are battered by the world, with a dead car and an empty bank account, we can have clear skies over us, when we depend on the Lord.

Let’s look at our CLOUDLESS God:

C – He came as a CHILD with no shadow upon his soul.

Matthew 1:23 recites the words of the angel of the Lord: “A virgin shall be with CHILD…his name [is] Emmanuel…being interpreted, God with us.”

He came to us undefiled, like a bright summer sky.

L – He is the LORD of every moment of our lives.

Mark 2:28 proclaims that Jesus is the LORD of even the Sabbath.

He will draw us to him on that day, and none will be able to cast a shadow upon what Jesus proclaims as good and right before him.

O – His OLIVE tree is our greatest blessing.

Deuteronomy 8:8 describes his gifts to us, not the least of which is the oil OLIVE. Not only does the OLIVE provide an edible fruit, the oil is useful for heating, lighting, and cooking.

Summer matures the tree’s fruit, just as God’s sunshine matures our love for him.

U – He UNITES us as one body, gathered under his perfect sky.

Ephesians 4:13 encourages us to UNITE before him in our faith, in our knowledge of the Son, becoming perfect in the measure of Christ.

The clouds will flee, and we will feel his presence wash across our faces.

D – His DOCTRINE is plainly laid out for all to see.

2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the plan he has for us is found in the Scripture, for his Word is profitable for learning his DOCTRINE.

No cloud of rain can obscure his truth, for we have the Bible, where it is written in black and white.

L – He is the LION of the tribe of Judah, and when he casts the clouds aside, there are none who can defy his word.

Revelation 5:5 gives us the words of the elder: “Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah…has…prevailed.”

Nothing on this earth or in the heavens can come against our God, nor cast a shadow upon him.

E – He EXTENDS new life to all who follow him.

Ezra 9:9 is our solid rock, for in the presence of our enemies, he EXTENDS his mercy unto us, reviving us in our weakness, and setting a wall around us for protection.

He is the warmth of the summer sun, and in his presence, we will bask forevermore.

S – He SITS on high, and in his concern for us, he covers the earth with his passion and goodness.

Isaiah 40:22 glorifies our God, for he SITS on the circle of the earth. Before him we are as grasshoppers. The heavens are his curtains, and he makes them into the tents of his dwelling.

Our summer sky is no more than a portion of the vastness that belongs to him.

S – He SHOWERS us with the blessings of his love.

Ezekiel 34:26 revives our flagging spirits, for his SHOWERS will fall on us in his season, and we will be flooded with his blessings.

It is with the SHOWERS of God’s spirit that we can grow into the sun to be like him.

God knows the time and the place for everything he blesses us with. He knows the showers we need and the sunshine we crave. He will be there to meet our every concern.

God spreads our days before us like jewels on the carpet of life. All we need to do is pick them up and enjoy them.
