For some people, Christmas is a magical time, and they look forward to the bright lights and family get-togethers.
Others think, “What do I have to offer? I can’t afford the travel, to buy the presents, or to doll up my home. All I get is stressed by people expecting too much of me.”
The Bible tells us that none of that matters. You can ace this. You can be at the top of your Christmas game.
Micah 5:2 gives us our hope through the story of Jesus:
“But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.”
Your beginnings don’t matter. You grew up in financial hardship? You lacked family support? You aren’t a holiday person?
The core of who you are isn’t based in where you started but in the destination that God has set for you.
Jesus, from Bethlehem Ephrathah, too small to be considered a clan of the tribe of Judah. From nothing. From inconsequence … yet to rise to be the spiritual ruler of Israel.
That’s YOU. God has plans for you this Christmas that far exceed and outweigh your origins.
Your sister outshines you at the holiday table each year? This is YOUR year to shine.
Your brother always gives the better gifts to your nieces and nephews? Be prepared for this to be your best season ever!
Your parents … travel expenses … Christmas decorations … God says, “My child, I see your situation, and from your beginnings, I am making a great celebration in your life. You WILL be a blessing to those around you this Christmas day.”
You can have a great Christmas this year. Just get out there and DO IT.
