Who treats you right?
Well, God, of course, but besides that?
Who’s got your back, stitches up your broken dreams, and sponges away your sorrow?
Who does good for you when you need it most?
Proverbs 31:10 says:
“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.”
The treasured King James Version says it like this:
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”
We can paraphrase it like this:
“No one is better than Mom at any cost.”
This verse is usually considered a spousal verse. A woman has a standard to uphold, and a man should be willing to give up everything when he finds her.
It works well (or even better) as a verse for Mom.
A loving mother’s arm around us is like a warm blanket.
When Mom listens to our problems, they seem less frightening.
Even when stress threatens to snap us, our mother’s voice does good for our soul.
Mom is like a foundation stone built of God’s love, a force for good in our lives.
Let’s do something good for Mom this Mother’s Day. A phone call. Flowers. A Card. Invite her to lunch and pick up the tab.
Moms do good for us, and today’s the day to do something good for her.
