Inside your Christmas tree, you’ll find the truth of what the holiday means to you.
Are your ornaments lovingly collected from special vacation spots, from seashells to ceramic-glazed knickknacks?
Is your tree newly fitted out each season with the latest colors and ribbons to match your décor?
Or do you like the branches of your tree to carry a theme … and you have a different tree for each room of your home?
What’s your Christmas truth? Is it about memories, about snazzle and pop, or does organization get your seasonal juices flowing?
The book of Isaiah looks at three truths we can focus on during the upcoming Christmas season.
Christmas Truth No. 1:
Isaiah 7:14 says: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
We must start somewhere. No one leaps onto the world scene fully formed. Take that first step. God has a plan for you.
Christmas Truth No. 2:
Isaiah 9:6 says: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
God is your redeemer. Jesus is your support in your time of trouble, your counselor and your peace in the storm.
Christmas Truth No. 3:
Isaiah 11:1 says: “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.”
We are the branch that bears the fruit of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for us. The world learns the nature of Christ when we live out his love to them.
Here’s why Christmas is so important:
It’s a time when the world is attuned to Christ. This is our opportunity. Share the truth of our Lord’s redemptive nature so that others can experience his love.
Christmas is about family. Let’s invite Jesus to be part of ours.
