We understand the drive to be a winner.
It’s the touchdown moment, the thrill of accomplishment. It’s the payoff for the work we’ve put in, and it overshadows the hours of effort we’ve expended.
Raising children is like football. We practice, we stumble, we fumble, and we recover if we can. We’re hoping for a touchdown, that moment of success when we see our children maturing into what we hoped they would become.
Psalm 78:4-7 gives us 5 Touchdown Victories that we get from keeping our children in Sunday school.
“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.”
Touchdown Victory No. 1 – Our children will learn of the mighty works God has done for those who have come before us.
Touchdown Victory No. 2 – They will tell the stories to our grandchildren, passing on the knowledge of God’s great works.
Touchdown Victory No. 3 – Each precious little one will set their hope in God, for they will have his story in their heart.
Touchdown Victory No. 4 – Our children will be forever reminded of God’s power when situations in life challenge them.
Touchdown Victory No. 5 – Our children will keep the commandments of the Father for the rest of their days.
We can’t let the opportunity pass them by. The history of the Bible is made real to them through the passionate teachings of the great events of Biblical history.
Our touchdown in Christ comes when our children continue to walk in his footsteps.
