Our Small Requirement

English Audio Version

Responsibility can be overwhelming.

We have our family to care for, bills to pay, and we can’t let our retirement planning slip for even one day.

Then there’s our house to maintain, the family car, and investments to watch over.

We haven’t even gotten to our church and the time we must volunteer there. How can we get it all done?

God’s requirement is simple. We find it in Micah 6:8.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

We are asked to do three things to stand fulfilled before God.

  1. We must be fair and show justice to those around us. That includes paying our bills, honoring our promises, and maintaining a strong ethical standard.
  2. We must be kind in our words and actions. That means speaking gently, being considerate, and being aware of what makes life better for others.
  3. We are to be humble before God. Pride in accomplishments has no place in the Christian’s life. All honor must be given to God for everything we achieve.

God doesn’t expect us to be superhuman. He only wants us to be fair, kind, and humble, especially to our family. That’s not too much to expect from the God of all creation.

When we step up for God, he will step up for us.

Excerpt of the Day

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
