Finding Faith in Uncertain Times

There are many interwoven parts to life.

Family. Work. Church. The neighbors across the street. The vacation we booked that we’ve looked forward to for years. Investments, yes they come into it, too.

It’s like a rope, stronger because each of these is interwoven with the others. Life can tug us this way and that, but never too far because we’re safely held in place by the strands of the rope.

Then, one part of our life slips, breaks, and life begins to unravel.

A wildfire destroys the family home. Our church family fractures.  Our job … we lose confidence in its stability … and the future becomes less “Of Course,” and more “What If.”

The Word assures us that our future is secure, and that we are not abandoned.

Read in Proverbs 23:18 (NIV):

“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

The Father is our constant guide and protector.  He is our hope when the cords of our life begin to fray.

He is the foundation on which we stand, especially in uncertain times. His plans for us are ones of good, and in him, we can rest assured that our future is bright.

How can we find the strength to trust in him? Here are three ways:

1. Spend time in the Word. Be receptive to Scripture. God will meet you there.

2. Spend time on your knees. Knees are figurative, of course. You can pray in your car, in the shower, and while you are preparing lunch for your family.

3. Spend time with saints who have proved themselves through a lifetime of Christian living. Their advice can steer you in the right direction.

The times might be uncertain, but God’s Word is a mighty rope that will pull you to safety every time. Trust in God. He is your redemption and salvation in every situation.
