The Pretenders

Wool can be very scratchy.

So, why don’t we notice when it’s repeatedly pulled over our eyes? Instead, we look around, find the patterns in the fabric to be beautiful, and soon, we forget that there’s another truth out there we can no longer see.

Jesus’ return is soon. His hand has prepared the world for the redemption of the church. He will come in might and power.

There are those who say differently. They are pretenders who parade their version of the truth, when there is no truth in their words.

Matthew 24:26 tells us:

“Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.”

It’s all wool, a misbelieving masquerade to lull us into complacency. There’s no more truth in the misdirection than painting a pretty scene and saying it’s reality, when it’s little more than a lie.

Matthew 24:27 reveals the truth of our coming Lord:

“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Our time to prepare is now, today, this very moment. When the lightning erupts across the heavens, it’s too late to react. It flashes, then it’s gone. That’s the coming of Christ. If we’re not with him, we’re already left behind. The wool will be pulled from our eyes, and we’ll find the broken lies of the pretenders cast at our feet, shattered and lifeless.

When we place our faith in God, we open our eyes to the truth that there is no other Savior except Jesus, our Lord.
