Your Christian Tag

English Audio Version

Christmas presents are near useless without gift tags.

Who knows who gets what? It’s likely we’ll give little Suzy’s new doll to Aunt Betsie as she stops by on her way back to Oregon.

What will Aunt Betsie do with a Wee-Diaper-Change Doll?

And Suzy can’t use a set of coasters. She can barely hold onto her sippy cup.

Even for those showing up on Christmas morning, how confusing would it be if we had to open the gifts willy-nilly, then guess who they were really for?

The model airplane … for 10-year-old Frankie or Uncle Skip?

A train set … Dad or Granddad?

And the box with the set of keys to the new car in the garage … someone might get hurt feelings if it doesn’t go to her.

We’re the same as Christians. We need to label ourselves for Christ. People need to know what to expect when they chat with us over the water cooler, invite us for a weekend at the lake, or tell us the latest joke they heard on television.

Let’s see how Jesus labeled himself that first Christmas.

Matthew 1:23 tells us:

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).”

When people see your name pop up on their phone, do they know you expect a clean conversation? No gossip? No off-color jokes? No disrespectful insinuations no manner how warranted?

Does your name equate with “Christian,” a person who lives after the matter of Christ?

Label yourself for Jesus. People should expect to find the Master in everything you say and do.

People should have no question that Jesus is Lord of who we are.

Jesus is our number one authority, and the only thing he tells us to do is love one another.
