God has plans for each of his children.
Oh, not us, we sometimes think. What could he do with us? We don’t have an advanced education, our bank accounts are nil, and we’re not outstanding speakers.
We have nothing God can use to further his kingdom.
So, we attend church, making sure to sit close to the back so we’re not noticed. We log into Facebook, reading the testimonies our friends give about the goodness of God. We click that we like what we read, but to comment? We don’t dare!
The pastor asks us to teach a Sunday school class, and we decline. For us to be a leader, giving spiritual guidance to children? Why, we can barely figure out God’s plan for ourselves, much less lay it out for others.
Yet, God has a plan for each of us. He will guide us into his path and offer us proof that his footsteps are true when we trust in him.
In Numbers 17:8, we see God’s proof to Aaron that he was God’s chosen man:
“And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.”
There were twelve rods left in the tabernacle, one for each of the tribes of Israel. Only one budded, Aaron’s. God was very clear in the direction he intended Aaron to go.
Aaron had his proof, and the princes of Israel had to accept what God had said.
Now, back to us. How can we say we have nothing to offer God? The very fact that the pastor asks us to teach that Sunday school class is our budded rod, our proof that the pastor recognizes our qualifications. Let’s leap at the opportunity to give unto the church what Christ has given unto us: everything, including his blood, his life, and his plan of salvation.
What Christ has given us, let’s be quick to share with those around us.
God wants to use us, no matter who we are, to draw the world unto him.
