The Snake Is No More

English Audio Version

What is it about snakes? Are they really the evil creatures of ancient lore?

What about worms? Or eels? Or the legless lizard … yes, you read that right.

How can you tell the difference between a snake and a legless lizard? Eyelids, real ear openings, and a detachable tail.

The snake however gets the bad rep in Genesis, so let’s stick with that. The snake, bad guy, out to pull humanity into sin and despair. AKA, drug dealer, bad influence, and whisper in our ear.

We are only human, we cry. How can we not fall?

2 Timothy 1:7 gives us hope:

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”

Look down. Find your right foot. Yeah, that foot, or your left will do if that’s your kicking foot. Now, swing it forward and back a few times. You’re getting it. When that snake comes around, give your foot a good kick and send that snake flying.

You are no longer timid, by the Word of God.

You have power. You have love. You have self-discipline. That snake is no more, and you can do this.

So, the next time temptation comes your way, check to see if it has eyelids, ear openings, or a detachable tail. If so, that’s just you, and you need to pony up. However, if it’s a snake, all it takes is a good spiritual kick, and you are the master of the situation.

Let Jesus guide your foot, and that snake will be no more.
