Something amazing!
That’s got to be God’s will for my life.
Surely he wants me to attend missionary school, go to an unchurched nation, and win thousands, no … millions for Christ! Yes! That’s a God-worthy goal he would surely expect of me.
But then, what about at home? I can’t leave my family, friends, and church body untouched. Okay, then, God … how about I start a church right here? A beautiful hillside location with a massive steeple and glittering stained glass. The world will see it and know of your divine and caring nature …
That would eat a lot of each day, wouldn’t it? My family time would suffer. I get it. God desires me to give my family every opportunity for happiness. The best schools for my kids, new cars at 16, vacations from across the world so that they can understand people from all over. Perhaps even a year traveling the world on a sailboat, family bonding and all that. That can’t be too far from what God wills for my life.
Let’s read in 1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
A missionary lifestyle … there’s nothing wrong with that.
Working to provide a place of worship that glorifies God, sure, go ahead.
Even a year on a sailboat or providing in other ways for your family to enjoy the best that life can be, do it!
Here’s the thing, though. All those are secondary. First and foremost, God’s will for your life is to have a thankful attitude, to be grateful for his gift of each day, and to be content in the life in which he has placed you.
Our appreciation spoken in worship to God is our best gift unto him. It’s his will for our life. Let’s sing his praises today.
