A Whole New Us

We’re told to be true to ourselves.

It’s a matter of honesty. We should look deep inside, find out how we really feel about things, and live out who we are. It’s the only way to find true happiness.

That’s great if we’re goodness and gold inside, but that’s not humanity. We’re creatures of emotion and instinct, and at times that brings out our darker side.

When the reality of who we are is revealed, it’s time to become a whole new us. We need to find a role model that sets a higher standard we can emulate.

Romans 12:2 says:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

This verse gives us three vital concepts.

  • We must not model ourselves along the world’s standards. That way leads to despair and heartache.
  • Changing our thinking is the bedrock to a whole new us, and that comes through study of the Word of God.
  • We must test out our new self to ensure that it aligns with the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

Christ is our salvation. The world will lead us astray. We’ll only become the best we can be when we model our lives according to the revealed Word of God.

Let’s crack the book. The Bible is for today.
