Our Noise-Canceling Headphones

Life is a radio constantly blasting music all around us. No matter how we try to focus, the distraction is always there.

The solution is to cancel out the noise.

We can don noise-canceling headphones with miniature microphones in the earpieces. They “hear” the noise around us and play a soundwave that’s 180 degrees out of phase with our surroundings.

Many upscale new cars use this same technique, playing their noise-canceling soundwaves through the radio speakers. We can better focus on our driving, because the noise outside the car no longer distracts us.

Proverbs 1:5 tells us we need world-canceling headphones to become wise in the things of the Lord.

“Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”

We do this in three ways:

  1. Tune in to Christian radio stations, and watch clean television broadcasts.
  2. Speak the truth of the Bible over every circumstance in life.
  3. Spend every free moment around people who also strive to live a godly life.

When we remove our noise-canceling headphones, we’ll discover the noise is still there. Open the window of that upscale new car, and the traffic sounds will come flooding in. The difference is what we choose to listen to.

Let’s let Christ be the only sound that enters our ears, so that we can hear his voice and understand his message unto us.
