Doomsayers surround us.
We hear our generation is going to the dogs, and that this will be the end of all that’s good and right.
Perhaps so, if we’re not diligent to maintain our standards.
What does the Bible warn us will signal the end, so that we can ensure we stamp out errant behaviors and attitudes, and remain pure in him?
2 Timothy 3:2 gives us a list:
“For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy.”
Timothy gives us more, but this offers us a good starting point. We could rephrase this verse to illustrate what to look for today.
For people will indulge every whim, create vast bank accounts, pat themselves on the back, dismiss others as foolish, mistreat coworkers and family, refuse to listen to caution, feel entitled, and disregard the laws of God.
How close have the doomsayers come in their predictions? Closer than we like, probably, but hope isn’t lost. Now that we know what to watch for, it’s time to make a change.
Godly behaviors start in the church, flow through our homes, and extend into our workplace. When the world sees that God comes first, we’ll begin to make a difference to those around us.
Each day is a fresh start in God, and he will lead us to success, if we follow him.
