Our Happy Place in Christ

Where’s our warm and fuzzy?

Is it our grandkids? Or a furry bunny? How about a cup of hot tea on a chilly morning?

What makes us feel good every single time?

Did anyone say traffic signs? How about the penal code, or tax law? No? No takers?

Romans 7:22 says:

“For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being.”

That’s like being tax code crazy! This is for the people who love the tough stuff, the rules everyone else runs from.

But look at it like a sports fan. Without the rules, the game falls apart. When we see the boundaries of the game being breached, we cry, “Foul! Pay attention, Umpire!”

Let’s pay attention to God’s laws. They set up the rules for righteous living. They’re not there to make us miserable. God’s intent was never to bash his people over the head with unreasonable, unbearable strictures that no one could follow. He loves us so much, that when we had trouble following the ones he wrote down, he sent Jesus to show us how it’s done.

Following God’s rules should put us in our happy place. When we commune with Christ, it should make us feel good each and every time.
