Christ’s Ballet Ensemble

The phrase “on our toes” comes directly from ballet. To perform well, the dancers must practice diligently to elongate their bodies. They extend their feet and, using special shoes, actually walk on their toes.

We become taller on our toes. We can see more, and things that block others’ vision don’t get in our way. We can see over our troubles more easily.

We must be on our toes, watching for Christ, if we’re to find him.

Matthew 24:50 is our warning bell:

“The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looks not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of.”

We must keep our eyes on Jesus, even when we are surrounded by trouble. How? Let’s look back to ballet for our answer.

Ballet dancers practice diligently to elongate their bodies. Essentially, they become taller on their toes.

Christians must do the same. How do we practice diligently? By prayer and time spent reading the Bible. What are our special shoes that help us to stand on our toes? Our Christian brothers and sisters who walk beside us on our path toward Christ and heaven.

Where two are three are gathered together, it’s easier to serve the Christ who is our Lord and King.

When we want to keep Christ in our sight, we must put extra effort into standing taller than the world that surrounds us.
