A common summertime sign at the beach is No Shoes, No Service.
What do we do? Slip on our SANDALS, of course. Then we are allowed entry anywhere. When we slip on the SANDALS of God each day, he will enable us to complete any task he sets us to.
Let’s look at our SANDALS God:
S – He shods our feet with SANDALS of empowerment.
Peter was in prison bound between two soldiers. An angel appeared before him, and the chains fell from Peter’s wrists. In Acts 12:8 the angel said to Peter, “Put on your SANDALS and follow me.”
When we wear God’s SANDALS, we are prepared for any situation.
A – He is our ARARAT.
Genesis 8:4 tells us that on the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark settled on Mount ARARAT.
Troubles may surround us, and we may see only the endless waters of frustration as far as the horizon, but God will rise up beneath us, and he will lift us from the waters, placing us on solid ground.
N – He NEVER abandons us when we are in need.
Paul gives us a litany of instructions in Hebrews 13, and in Verse 5 he reminds his readers that Jesus said he would NEVER leave us nor forsake us.
When disaster looms, and all we can see are the gathering clouds, Jesus is waiting on the other side, ready to conquer the storm.
D – He is the Son of DAVID.
Matthew 1:1 gives us the genealogy of Jesus. He is the son of DAVID, and the son of Abraham.
In Revelation 5:5 he is also called the Root of DAVID, for it is from Jesus that new life will spring forth unto all the world.
A – He is our ANSWER.
David dealt with depression all his life. Yet, he learned to trust in God. In Psalm 86:7 he says, “When I feel weak, I am reassured in you, oh God, for you always ANSWER my cries.”
The devil will try to steal our hope from us, but God always speaks to us in our time of need. He simply wishes us to come before him and ask.
L – He is the LAUGHTER that drives our enemies away.
In Job 41 Job speaks of the mightiest creatures of the deep. In Verse 29 he describes how the leviathan’s LAUGHTER scorns the weapons of man.
How much more so the mighty hand of God, who laughs at the machinations of mere man! Our God brushes man’s evil efforts aside, for his is the majesty that created the very world we inhabit.
S – He is the SEA that encompasses the world.
In Psalm 78:53 David tells us that our God guides us safely, but he is also in the SEA that destroys all our enemies.
Just as the fisherman draws sustenance from the SEA, so we draw life from God. Just as the stormy SEA drowns the fool who dares her gales, so God destroys those who oppose us.
Our God encompasses our world in the palm of his hand, and in his majesty, he both enables us and protects us, no matter where he sends us.
