Our Aha Moment

Sometimes we just figure it out. We get the big picture, and all the nonsense around us begins to make sense. Call it prescience, label it intuition, or say we’ve had an epiphany. It all means the same thing.

We’ve figured it out.

That moment in time becomes our Aha Moment.

It can be a nice feeling, too, like the world is just a little bit under our control. We get it, how to push this, poke that, pull there, and circumstances bend to our will. We have become an Olympic swimmer in the sea of life, and we feel sorry for all those suckers still flopping around in the shallows.

Woo, doggie!

Yet, that Aha Moment can flow two directions. We can “get it,” but so can our enemies. We must be wary of the devil, for he will try to burst our bubble of protection in the Lord. He will make every effort to aid those who would come against us with evil intent.

Let’s look at two examples of evil intent in Psalms. In Chapter 35, David worries about his enemies. He prays to God they do not receive an Aha Moment. He knows that if they do, they will be in control. They will be able to push him about and bend him to their will.

Verse 21 says, “They open wide their mouths against me; they say, ‘Aha, Aha! Our eyes have seen it!’ ”

David understands the danger in this situation. He knows those who stand against him do not speak words of peace.

Verse 25 goes on with, “Let them not say in their hearts, ‘Aha, our heart's desire!’ Let them not say, ‘We have swallowed him up.’ ”

We must depend on God to be our strength against those who would find their Aha Moment in our time of distress. In Verse 27, David cries out, “Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”

Later, in Psalm 40:15, he cries, “Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, ‘Aha, Aha!’ ”

We should take our strength from Ezekiel 25. In this chapter, God says, “Because you said, ‘Aha!’ over my sanctuary when it was profaned…I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

That is our Aha Moment. It comes from the mouth of the Lord God Almighty; the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth; the Way, the Truth, and the Light; and our Bright and Morning Star. When he speaks for us, our lives fall under his control. With him at our side, we are the Olympic swimmer, and our enemies are suckers still flopping around in the shallows.

Woo, doggie, God! Way to go! You are the best there is!

When we realize God is in control, that’s an Aha Moment that can’t be surpassed.

Excerpt of the Day

A promise to the devil can be laughed off when we have Jesus standing at our side. A promise from the devil is worthless, and should be laughed off even faster.
