Keeping an Eye Out for God

Vacation, the road trip sort. Hours in a car, the kids in the back seat.

Nowadays, we have iPads, built-in media systems, and entertainment right in the car. But let the mists of time take you back …

Slug Bug.

I spy something green.

Stuckey’s! Mom, Dad, can we stop, pleeease?

The point is that what we’re looking for is what we see. Our neighbor gets a new car, and suddenly, we see that make and model everywhere. It’s not that there are more but that we’re more aware of them.

Now read this verse and see if you get what I’m hinting at:

“And there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.” – Luke 2:8-9

Why did the shepherds see the angel of the Lord? They were “keeping watch by night.”

Slug Bug! I see an angel! I win!

When we’re looking for God, we will see evidence of him. We will be open to his messengers, and his glory will shine around us.

Our life on this earth is a road trip with heaven as its destination. Let’s look for Jesus along the way. He’s there.

“I spy heaven! Mom, Dad, can we go there, pleeease?”

Let’s let that be the cry of our heart.

Excerpt of the Day

Where we are is not where we'll stay. God has greater works for us to do.
