Flipping the Jesus Switch

We live in an electrified world.

Tour a new house before the insulation and sheet rock go in, and you’ll find a warren of wires running through the walls. The attic is crisscrossed with them: fat ones for energy-eating appliances and smaller ones for things like phone service and security systems.

Here’s the thing: no matter how many wires are in that structure, even when connected to the power mains, those wires provide no benefit until the main breaker is flipped into the on position.

Plug in a lamp, dead. Flip a wall switch, nothing. Try to run the furnace and you will get no results from the heating system. Your microwave won’t work, nor will your garage door opener, not even your doorbell.

You might have all the right stuff in place, but there’s no life without the electricity from the main power line.

We need to flip the Jesus switch and get powered up for the Lord.

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him …” – John 1:9-10

Suddenly, we come alive. Our witness becomes real. Our offerings become infused with power. Our relationships reflect Jesus, and we see opportunities to do good for Jesus that we overlooked before.

Jesus is our power source. If the world was made through him, think what he can do when we flip the Jesus switch and allow him to fully flow through us.

The switch is called salvation. Let’s do it today.
