The world is crazy.
You read that right. Drive downtown on a Friday, and you’ll see what I mean.
Horns honking, people whipping into parking spaces, even raised fists when your car’s bumper gets too close to where I want mine to be.
It can drive us insane (which is just another word for crazy).
So, how can we dodge that bullet? What’s a Bible verse that can direct us down a better path?
Here’s three ways to find your sanity through kindness to others.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Our first way to find sanity through kindness:
Simply be kind. Speak softly. Move at another person’s pace. Over to pay the bill. Give up the best parking space and choose to walk a bit further.
Our second way to find sanity through kindness:
Let your heart show tenderness. If someone is sad, be willing to sit with them. Listen to their aches and pains. Let them be self-centered without drawing the limelight back to you.
Our third way to find sanity through kindness:
Forgive others. Yes, even when they don’t deserve it. Step back from the hurt, remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and let it go. Then, never bring it up again.
Our reason and motivation for all this? “… even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”
Jesus is our example. His life is the model we build on. His love for humanity is how we find sanity in a crazy world.
Kindness. Let’s show it today.
