A Remarkable Christmas Eve

Christmas is a magical time for many people.

So is Christmas Eve, if you know where to look.

A number of years ago. a young family from North Texas decided to spend their Christmas holiday on the coast. Galveston Island with its sun-drenched sand appealed to them more than the winter storm blowing in from up north.

When weather reports predicted an earlier storm approach than at first expected, the family left out at the first snowfall to miss the bad weather. They stopped north of Houston for the night, only to wake to icy streets. Galveston, they thought ... sunshine and warmth, and off they went.

They arrived to sunshine on Christmas Eve, but the true magic of that beautiful day was yet to unfold. Just after midnight, as Christmas rounded the corner, snow began to fall. By breakfast, it was nearly a foot deep.

Snow ... on the beach ... on Christmas Day!

The funny thing was that back at home, most of the snow had bypassed their North Texas home, and what had fallen was gone by Christmas Day.

They had fled the storm only to have the storm gift them a Christmas morning like no other.

That Galveston Christmas snow was mostly gone by the next day, but that one special Christmas ... aah! What a day, one they would always remember.

Today is Christmas Eve. Your Christmas magic is on the way. Wait for it ... wait for it ... then grasp it before it's gone.

Whatever Christmas Eve brings to you today, keep the Christ child as the center of your celebration. He is the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Where we are is not where we'll stay. God has greater works for us to do.
