How’s the crowd around you?
Do they hustle and bustle? Keep the status quo?
Do they drive the latest cars, eat at trendy restaurants, and shop to deck themselves out in the most current fashion possible?
Jewel tones are from last season. Get with it. The crowd is moving on. Keep up.
The bigger issue is getting lost in the crowd.
Try this. Park your car at the mall and go inside for an hour. Don’t record where you parked. Just walk away from your car.
It’s yours, right? You know what it looks like.
Come back to it from a different side of the mall. See how easy it is to find … or does it fit in with the crowd, just another SUV or sedan that looks eerily like all the others?
God says he notices you. He keeps track of who you are, where you live, and the troubles that are weighing you down.
God remembers your name.
Read in Isaiah 43:1:
“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.’ ”
Think about it like your children. You can recognize them by their haircut, the way they walk, even the back of their hand.
If you hear your son’s voice or your daughter’s laughter in a crowded room, you can pick them out in an instant.
That’s how God is with us. He can pick us out of a crowd. Just. Like. That.
We are special to God. He is our Father, and he calls us his children. He never loses track of us.
