Your Brand-New Day

English Audio Version

Wipe the slate clean.

That’s what we’re to do with old hurts and failures. They are in the past. We are to cast them off and begin afresh, even should we stumble again.

It’s how we move from the darkness of depression and despair into the fresh light of another day.

Let’s read about the first time that light banished the darkness in Genesis 1:1-6.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.

“And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.”

It’s important to see how strongly this connects to our human condition and our despair at our old hurts and muck-ups.

God hovered over a dark world without form. There was nothing redeeming about the earth. It was a useless failure of a place.

God saw more. He knew the possibilities that existed in his rough and unformed creation.

God changed everything with his words, “Let there be light.”

He does the same in our lives. He changes everything with a word, bringing new purpose and direction into our darkness.

God knew light and darkness couldn’t co-exist, and he separated them. We need to take that and separate ourselves from our failures and look forward to our success in God.

Today is your brand-new day. God says you are no longer who you used to be. He has instilled the light of Christ into you, and you will shine brighter than ever before.

When God is your guide, the darkness is banished in the light of your journey with Jesus.

Excerpt of the Day

We already know the end of the story. Jesus rules, and the devil drools.
