Today only lasts twenty-four hours.
Never less, never more. We can time it with a stopwatch.
Today never runs too long, and we always have as much of it as we had yesterday.
It’s tomorrow that’s unlimited. It stretches in front of us for weeks, months, years, and decades.
God looks out over the time he’s given us, and he says he has plans for us.
Proverbs 3:1-2 connects our long life to keeping his rules and following his instructions.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”
1 John 2:17 promises us that the Lord will be there for us through it all.
“And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
Mark 9:23 assures us we can create a better tomorrow in Jesus.
“And Jesus said to him, ‘ "If you can"! All things are possible for one who believes.’ ”
Jeremiah 29:11 says God will lead us to better things.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
John 14:2-3 is our guarantee that our rebirth into the heavenly kingdom will be grand and glorious.
“In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
We can’t live in our yesterday, and our future is yet to come. Let’s start with today and let God lead us into his tomorrow.
Hand in hand with God is the only way to live.
