God’s Backup Plan

English Audio Version

How much of a risk-taker are you?

Are you willing to drive a car without airbags?

Board an airplane without landing gear?

Jump from a tall platform without checking to see if you’re hooked up to the bungee rope?

Are you crazy, man? How stupid do you think we are?

Yet, what if your phone died? Are your contacts backed up?

How about your computer? What important documents would be lost forever if you couldn’t get access to your hard drive?

The owner of a successful lawncare company in North Carolina shut down his business because he lost his phone. That’s all it took. All his business contacts were inside, and once they were gone, so was his business.

We need a backup plan, a service that will automatically copy all our information so that it’s never lost or destroyed.

We find God’s backup plan in Hebrews 6:10-11:

“For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end.”

Here’s how God’s backup plan works: He remembers the good we do for him. No forgetting allowed. No lost phones. No inaccessible hard drives. No unattached bungee ropes. All God’s landing gear and airbags are in place.

Here’s our part: Let’s reflect that same confidence back towards God.

We can trust in our Lord to notice the work we put in for him.

Our God is our rescue and our salvation. There is no shadow of worry when we place our faith in his love for us.
