Children have no problem asking for what they want.
Don’t believe it? Take a kid into a candy shop, or try a toy store. Even the cookie or cereal aisle in the grocery store will do.
“That one, that one, that one. I want that.”
Many times, we give in and get them what they want … especially if they keep asking over and over.
Just like God does with us.
Wait … what was that? God gives in to us if we ask him over and over?
Read John 16:24 to answer that question for yourself.
“Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
This is so important, so vital to our Christian walk, that we need to break this verse apart. It’s the only way we can truly comprehend its magnificence.
It starts with, “Until now, you have asked nothing in my name.”
Here’s what we need to understand. Whatever we’ve prayed for in the past is small potatoes to God. It’s nothing compared to what he’s prepared to give us. We need to start thinking bigger.
The next part of our verse says, “Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
This is the big revelation. Ask. That’s right, ask for whatever you need in the name of Jesus and you will receive it. Not if. Not maybe. Not perhaps, sometime in the distant future, but you will receive it.
Get your thoughts around that. It’s Biblical truth, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Don’t give up. Ask God again and again until your joy is full. You can count on it.
When we take God at his Word, everything in our life will be changed.
