The Bountiful Harvest from Our Vineyard

Many areas of the world produce fine wine. However, not all grapes like to grow in all conditions.

The soil composition, the amount of sun, even the annual rainfall all affect the quality of the harvest.

One solution is to use a rootstock that likes our climate, then graft on the variety of grape we want to produce.

Sturdy rootstock plus flavorful grape equals a bountiful harvest of exquisite quality.

Here’s the point: We reap what we sow. That sturdy rootstock might produce sour grapes of poor quality. It takes extra work to graft in the best new branches. We take out what we put in.

Here are three verses that reveal the importance of putting in the work to receive a bountiful harvest.

Bountiful Harvest Tip No. 1:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh  will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.“ (Galatians 6:7-8)

What we put into our spiritual walk will come out in how we live. Study the Bible. Spend time in prayer. Place God first in all things.

Bountiful Harvest Tip No. 2:

“Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (James 1:15)

Nip that sinful thought in the bud. Stay out of that bar. Turn off that computer when the Internet leads you astray.

Bountiful Harvest Tip No. 3:

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26)

Your weekends, your family, your faith … what are you willing to trade for that next big payout? Place your priorities on living. You will know you’re on the right path when God finds you giving … to your family, your church, and those around you in need.

So let’s break a sweat. Put in the work. Make the decisions that will benefit not only us but everyone around us.

Let’s decide for Jesus, for he is the one we can always depend on.

Pretty is as pretty does, and that applies to our walk with God, also.
